This 50m Heesen is part of the successful ‘Pelican Bow’ series and was the Dutch shipyard’s flagship vessel at the time of launching. The 9m moulded beam and amplified depth in the hull create more volume for a more spacious interior, in order to meet the owner’s desire for greater living space.
GALACTICA is a fully custom yacht that incorporates continuous windows on either side of the owner’s stateroom, rather than repeating the oval windows of the Heesen 47m designs. The GA of GALACTICA was designed with a long, continuous salon and a large TV screen on the starboard side, allowing for multidirectional viewing.
Entering from the main aft deck, the yacht impresses with her contemporary spaces contrasted with elegant touches of classical details. The designer combined materials and finishes that offer contrast between gloss and satin, light and dark, plain and texture.
GALACTICA’s interior incorporates a number of special features. A full-beam, curved sofa area in the heart of the salon offers an intimate setting in which friends and family can gather. An eye-catching curved staircase wraps around a central vavona burl column that culminates with an artistic ‘open flower’ light feature created from stained glass and satin nickel.
The exterior shows the typical ‘feather tip’-styled overhangs, allowing for low railings and a good view of the water when seated on the aft decks. The original owner’s requirements were very particular with regards to entertaining and dining on the sundeck, which can seat up to 14 guests with both sun and wind protection.
GALACTICA’s semi-planing hull means she can achieve top speeds of 26 knots, while keeping motion sickness at bay from her ultra-modern zero-speed stabilisation system. The forward deck features a sizeable tender garage with a hinged door, allowing for storage of tenders up to 7.3m in length. GALACTICA’s sporty profile has a traditional-coloured blue hull.
GALACTICA was listed for sale at EUR 19,500,000.
