Meet Marcel Busse: a new member of the YACHTZOO Sales and Charter team
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Marcel enrolled himself in a career in the hospitality industry from a young age, growing up in his parents’ holiday resorts. Prior to his long and successful career at sea, Marcel worked and trained in the hotel industry and received a diploma in hotel management.
Marcel worked in the yachting industry for over 28 years, beginning when he accepted his first role on board M/Y CLEOPATRA C, a 57-metre Amels yacht, in 1994. As he worked his way up through the yacht’s deck department ranks, Marcel gained extensive knowledge of the most desirable cruising grounds, with most of his time spent based out of Mexico, Florida, and Europe. Proving such great success, Marcel took command of several yachts of up to 45-metres, including sport fishers and cruising yachts, before returning to Europe to work as a chief officer on larger superyachts.
By 2007, Marcel had gained a desirable skill set in the yachting industry, stepping on board the 70-metre charter yacht M/Y AMADEUS, which he later took command of a few years later. He has since then been in command of a few other well-known, iconic large superyachts. Marcel had created a name for himself in the industry throughout his time on the water, renowned for returning clients and proving an exceptional charter record. With this, in 2017, Marcel came ashore to assist in managing the operation of a prestigious 102-metre Feadship motor yacht.
