Charter a yacht in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Luxury yacht charters in St Vincent and the Grenadines transport you to a picture-postcard haven in the southeast corner of the Caribbean. Think lush, volcanic landscapes, pristine sandy beaches and remote bays in which to drop anchor before a spectacular swim among the local aquatic wildlife. There is also an upscale element to the islands, with luxury resorts and chic beach bars that are open until the early hours.

St Vincent is home to Kingstown, the capital and most populous town in this sovereign state of the Lesser Antilles. The three largest islands of the Grenadines are Bequia (pronounced Beck-way), Mustique and Union. Bequia, dubbed the ‘perfect Caribbean island’, is popular with cruising yachts. Mustique is a regular haunt of the international jet set and a Caribbean island of choice for rock-star royalty, fashion icons, and billionaires. Union is a little more remote than the other larger, more popular islands and is, therefore, a great place to drop anchor during a yacht charter; it has a reputation for being relaxed and friendly. Charter a yacht in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with YACHTZOO and discover barefoot elegance.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

What kind of experiences are there to enjoy on a yacht charter in St Vincent and Grenadines?

Hiking, gastronomy, history, culture, diving, and snorkeling are amongst the top experiences you can enjoy on a crewed yacht charter in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

With a French and then a British colonial past, St Vincent historically produced coffee, tobacco, indigo, corn, and sugar. Today, tourism is one of the most important sectors, so one of the best ways to enjoy the islands in peace and privacy is to rent a yacht in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Away from the crowds, St Vincent offers great hiking trails, including the challenging La Soufrière volcano or picturesque Vermont Nature Trail. In Kingstown, take a walk with all the family around the 20-acre Botanical Gardens in the capital to learn about the local flora and fauna, before heading up to the elevated colonial-era Fort Charlotte for views out over the capital.

Drop anchor outside Bequia’s Port Elizabeth, which has some great restaurants and a relaxed charm that is distinctly on ‘island time’. Bequia is known for its picture-perfect white sand beaches but has plenty more to offer than quiet walks along the powder-soft sand. As well as some great snorkelling spots, take the whole family to visit the island’s Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary to learn about the rescued animals.

The former 1,400-acre sugar plantation of Mustique is known for its large, private villas which pepper the lush, green hillsides. The island’s low-key, vibrant bars – such as the infamous Basil’s Bar – offer a chance to kick off your shoes and dance the night away. For daytime activities, there is horseback riding on the island or tennis courts for a little friendly match, while those who prefer to spend time in or on the water can scuba dive, snorkel, surf, or kite-surf in the waters off Mustique.

On Union, put on your walking shoes and take to one of the island’s many beautiful trails, including to the summit of Mount Taboi for panoramic views of the bright cerulean water and neighboring islands beyond. There is also a well-protected inshore coral reef system within the lagoon which is well suited to younger members of a group, with colourful fish and coral heads close to the surface.

When is the best time to charter a yacht in St Vincent and Grenadines?

The best time to charter a yacht in St Vincent and the Grenadines is between December and April, which is considered the peak charter season in the Caribbean. Average temperatures in Bequia are generally stable year-round, with highs of approximately 28C (82F) in December and April.

The sea temperature between December and April is usually around 27C (81F), with the annual peak of 29C (84F) being in September and October.

Where can you visit on a luxury yacht charter in St Vincent and the Grenadines?

The islands of Mustique, Bequia, and Union as well as the Tobago Cays are elegant destinations to visit on a luxury yacht charter in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Many of those who are renting a yacht in St Vincent and the Grenadines will fly into Argyle International Airport near Kingstown and embark from there. Charterers can cruise south to the major islands like Mustique, Bequia, and Union (which is the furthest at just 70 kilometers or 45 miles from Kingstown).

There are various smaller islands also worth a stop on a charter in St Vincent and the Grenadines, including the stunning archipelago of the Tobago Cays (which has a marine park), Mayreau, and Canouan.

What are the major yachting ports in St Vincent and the Grenadines?
