In November, the average high temperature at the Esperanza Base on the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula is approximately 2C (36F), while in April it is -2C (28F). In January, the average temperature is approximately 1.5C (35F). Swimming in the water of Antarctica is only recommended for the brave, who should be armed with a thick wetsuit to prevent hypothermia.
