Originally launched in 1955, TWENTY has a unique place in sportfishing history as the 20th hull built by the legendary Rybovich family. Designed by Johnny and Tommy Rybovich, she showcases the iconic “broken sheer” profile that would become synonymous with one of the world’s most celebrated sportfishing builders.
Commissioned by Carl Badenhausen of Ballantine Brewing, TWENTY was conceived during the golden age of American sportfishing. According to her documented history, the project was inspired in part by Ernest Hemingway’s admiration for Rybovich craftsmanship, resulting in a vessel that combined elegance, performance and exceptional fishability.
Constructed in traditional mahogany plank-on-frame, TWENTY remains a superb example of classic American boatbuilding. While preserving her original character, she benefited from an extensive refit completed in Japan in 2014. During this programme, the engines, generator and interior furnishings were replaced, ensuring modern reliability while respecting the yacht’s heritage.
More than a beautifully preserved collector’s piece, TWENTY continues to demonstrate her capabilities on the water. She has been meticulously maintained throughout her ownership, carefully stored out of the water when not in use and remains an active participant in sportfishing tournaments.
